de Beauchamp (Married in 1082 to Adeliza Matilda Tallebosc,

Cisterian
Abbey of Warden received Putnoe as an endowment from the de
Beauchamp family. Comprised of a grange or outlying farm of the
monastry until dissolution in 1537.

and Joan Gostwick purchased from Oliver Leader the manor of
Putnoe for £760. Held by the Gostwicks of Willington until Sir
William Gostwick, the 5th Baronet.

Putnoe along with manors of Willington, Ravensden and Goldington

Charles
Pope, a Miller from Sandy, bought the Putnoe farm and
its 520 acres of pasture land for £25,531 from the 9th Duke
of Bedford. This was kept in the Pope family after his death in
1888 until 1910, when the land was sold in lots.

The
Hartop family purchased Putnoe farm in 1910 and was occupied
by Arthur Edwin Hartop. He continued to occupy the farm
until after 1939. In 1947 Putnoe farm is occupied by Jack
Hartop. Finally occupied by Harriet Zillah Hartop from
1949 until 1968. Land sold to Bedford Corporation in 1950s for
Housing Estate. Farm house demolished in 1969 to make way for
Old Peoples home and library buildings.
